Marx Foods Retail Store

Much the opposite of what was the norm, Marx Foods online business went brick and mortar second with a small curated collection in a custom designed and built out space. With shelves full of the obscure, we utilized technology built into the store to make available our vast online content to aid in the shopping experience and minimize hurdles.

Product Packaging

I guided design of our own packaging for our award winning line of dried mushrooms and chilies.

Creative packaging

I wrote and designed this series in my off hours working on some advertising pitches. They were well received and subsequently utilized in store and on checkout bags.

Bringing the knowledge home

Because Marx foods is filled with specialty and hard to find items, customers often don't know what to do with them. To help alleviate customer anxiety, we came up with a novel way to bridge knowledge gaps using off the shelf technology (fitting for a store that started out online only). Using custom fabricated shelves, products were merchandized with designed QR codes that linked to product information, usage guides, recipes and videos. The customer could scan as they went with their own devices, while the staff also carried handheld scanners that were then linked to the numerous iPads and monitors build into the store, allowing fast and easy product education and a better shopping experience.
